Individual builders may have added updates to older kits. |
| The following is off Rans site: |
| The
S-7S was based on the S-7C (S-7 Certified) due to builders |
| requests.
For FAA certification reasons the S-7C had to have an |
| electric
fuel pump. This same system was used on the S-7S (kit |
| version
of the certified) when it was placed in production. |
| There
are many differences on the S-7S when compared to earlier S-7 |
| models.
See above. |
| |
| Maybe
this is a better way to describe the evolution: |
| The
certified version developed in 1998 included many structural and system
changes in the wings, fuselage, |
| engine
mounting, control and fuel systems. Many of the changes were
encorporated into the current kits at |
| the
time (but not the deeper, wider firewall design, boot cowl, engine mount and
other changes ahead of the firewall). |
| |
| In
2000 the fuselage was lengthend by 22" aft of the battery station which
demanded certain control system changes. |
| Also at this time the datum for |
CG
calculations was changed from the prop hub to the firewall and arm numbers
were revised for pilot, |
| |
passenger and baggage. |
| In
2002 Rans included the rest of those changes developed for the C version into
the current kits and called it |
| the
S7S. These enhancements were the bigger firewall, fiberglass boot cowl and
wing tips, focalized |
| engine mount
and the other engine and fuel system changes. |
| |
| and
the deeper firewall translates |
to a lower position for the pilot's feet. |
| *
Also important is the fact that the focalized mount moves the engine forward
by about 2 1/2 inches |

you have to know the year of the kit and details on any updates before you

are in the plane. |
